Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Tax Collars Private Limited (CIN U74999TN2020PTC137643), a company registered in India ("we", "us", "our"), for your use of Privy Manager: our apps for Android and iOS and our web app (together, the "App").
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. The short version
- You must be 18 or older.
- You are responsible for your account, and for keeping your password, recovery code and PINs safe. We cannot reset a forgotten PIN, and without your recovery code we cannot restore a forgotten password.
- We have zero tolerance for abusive users and unlawful content. Section 4 lists what is not allowed. Break it and we may suspend or close your account.
- Your messages are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read them, so we depend on you to block people and report abuse (§5).
- The App is free and provided "as is". Some features, such as the Wipe PIN, deletion and disappearing messages, erase data permanently by design.
2. Who can use the App
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. You must not use the App if the law where you live forbids it, or if we have previously closed your account for breaking these Terms.
3. Your account
- You choose a username and password when you sign up, along with a display name and an Actual Name (see the Privacy Policy, §2.1). You must not choose a name that impersonates someone else.
- Keep your credentials safe. Anyone with your password, or your recovery code together with your username, may be able to take over your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
- Your password protects your encryption keys. If you forget it and have no recovery code, we cannot restore your account or your message history.
- Your App PIN, Hide PIN and Wipe PIN can never be reset by you or by us. A forgotten PIN permanently locks what it protects.
- Accounts that nobody has opened for 365 days are deleted automatically, after warnings (Privacy Policy, §11).
4. What you must not do
You must not use the App to create, send, store or share anything that:
- sexually exploits or endangers children in any way, including child sexual abuse material. We report this to the authorities where the law requires;
- is obscene or pornographic, or shares intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- harasses, threatens, bullies, stalks or intimidates anyone, including on the basis of gender, religion, caste, race, ethnicity, disability or sexual orientation, or encourages violence;
- is defamatory, or invades another person's privacy;
- impersonates another person or organisation, or misleads people about who you are;
- deceives or defrauds, including scams, phishing and pyramid schemes, or promotes money laundering or unlawful gambling;
- knowingly spreads false or misleading information, including information that threatens public order or public health;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, its friendly relations with other countries, or public order, or incites any offence;
- infringes anyone's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- contains viruses or other malicious code; or
- is otherwise unlawful under any law that applies to you or to us.
You also must not:
- send spam or unsolicited bulk messages, or create accounts in bulk or by automated means;
- try to break, probe or get around the App's security, access controls, rate limits or integrity checks, or access anyone else's account or data;
- disrupt the service or overload our systems; or
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer or resell the App, except where the law allows it.
5. Blocking, reporting and enforcement
- You can block any user at any time. A blocked user can no longer message you in that conversation.
- You can report a conversation from inside the App, or write to our Grievance Officer at grievance@privymanager.com (§12). Because content is end-to-end encrypted, we see only what the reporter chooses to send us.
- We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and act on them within the time the law requires.
- We do not act on a report alone. After reviewing it, we may warn the user, suspend the account, or, for serious or repeated breaches, close it permanently. We tell suspended users why.
- Where the law requires it, we preserve and report child sexual abuse material, and we respond to valid legal orders (Privacy Policy, §10).
6. Your content
- You own what you send. You give us only the permission we need to store, relay and deliver it, in encrypted form, to the people you send it to.
- You are responsible for what you send, and for having the right to send it.
- Recipients can keep what you send them. They may save it, forward it where the conversation allows forwarding, or photograph their screen. View-once and disappearing messages limit what the App keeps. They cannot stop someone who has already seen a message from recording it another way.
7. Features that erase data permanently
Some features delete data on purpose, and deleted data cannot be recovered, by you or by us:
- entering your Wipe PIN;
- deleting messages, conversations or your account;
- disappearing and view-once messages;
- delete for everyone, which works within 24 hours for the sender and within 7 days for a group admin.
Use them with care. We are not responsible for data you or your conversation partners delete through these features.
8. The service
- The App is currently free of charge.
- We work to keep the App running and secure, but we do not promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we will give notice in the App where we reasonably can.
- The App relies on services run by others, such as Google Firebase, Apple and Google push notifications, and the app stores. Their outages are outside our control.
9. Disclaimers and limits on our liability
- To the extent the law allows, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the App.
- Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under law that cannot be limited by agreement, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
10. Ending this agreement
- You can stop using the App at any time and delete your account in the App, or as described at privymanager.com/delete-account.
- We may suspend or close your account as set out in §5. Sections 6, 7, 9 and 11 continue to apply after your account ends.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without affecting your right to use the grievance process in §12 first.

13. If you downloaded the App from Apple's App Store
These points apply in addition to the rest of these Terms:
- This agreement is between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and its content.
- Your right to use the App is limited to Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- If the App fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer-protection or privacy claims.
- If anyone claims the App infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending and settling that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the App evolves. We will announce material changes in the App before they take effect, and show the new effective date at the top. If you keep using the App after that date, you accept the updated Terms.
